‘It’s a front runner’s track’ – Three horses who can lead them a merry dance at Sedgefield 💃

Sedgefield is a course with sharp bends and easy fences. These two factors mean one thing: it’s a front runner’s track. There’s a competitive meeting at the County Durham track on Friday. As there’s a significant advantage to being up with the pace, we’ve picked out three runners with a tendency to make the running and combined them into a tasty accumulator. 12.30 Sedgefield

Minelladestination (7-1, bet365) is lightly raced and unexposed on handicap debut here. She has made the running on her last two starts including a good effort when second here two starts ago. Should be stronger for this campaign with a summer under her belt and there could be plenty of improvement to come. 109 is a fair starting point and it’s likely that she’ll be winning before long.

1.35 Sedgefield

Kildrum (3-1, William Hill) made all the running to win at Hexham over three miles in May. It was a gutsy performance, getting the better of his rival after a prolonged battle up the run-in. Physical improvement from his reappearance run last time looks likely and he should be spot on for this. He was held up in his two disappointing runs here in February and April. As it’s likely more positive tactics will be employed from now on, we could see another pillar-to-post victory from this gelding.

2.45 Sedgefield

Hidden Commander (10-3, William Hill) has won four races over fences and he has raced prominently in all of them. His two most impressive wins came when making all the running, both at Kelso. More patient tactics were employed at Newcastle last time when a disappointing third. That should be the end of that experiment however and a front running ride could be back on the cards. A consistent horse, he was sliding up in the weights before being dropped 2lb for that latest effort and should go well here.
