Irish trainer Paul Nolan managed to win the Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival and he is dreaming of a major double. The horse in question is set to tackle the Irish Grand National next and his trainer remains very confident. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Daily Present chased down the Jonjo & AJ O’Neill-trained Johnnywho to win the Kim Muir and he was doing all his best work late over that 3m2f trip. Having finished third in the Porterstown at Fairyhouse over an extended 3m5f, the extra distance shouldn’t be a problem.
Nolan said: “The Irish National is 100 per cent the plan for Daily Present. The Kim Muir was the plan and now it’s Fairyhouse. The first plan has gone right so let’s hope the second one will, too. There’s not a bother on him since Cheltenham, he’s bounced out of the race in great shape.”
Spring ground is likely to help his cause, according to Nolan, who added: “The ground is a big help to him. You could see at Cheltenham that he enjoyed that nicer ground, and if it can stay that way between now and Easter I’ll be happy. He’s already run well over that course and distance in the Porterstown, he was third that day and he will prefer the ground at Easter if it’s nice. We hope he will be going there with a big chance.”
There’s plenty to like about his profile, as he remains lightly raced over fences and is clearly going the right way. Paul Nolan’s confidence looks pretty well placed and you wouldn’t want to rule out another big run from the eight-year-old.
