Jim Crowley is one of Britain’s best jockeys and is always a highly sought after rider. It has to be of huge interest that he goes to Windsor Racecourse on Monday for just one ride. Generally, he would also have other rides on the card no matter where he was. Is this a tip in itself? Make sure you check out our free horse racing tips on the website.
The race of the day is the Class 2 novice at Windsor and Jim Crowley is an eyecatching booking aboard Clive Cox’s exciting colt Archie’s Angel. The son of Dark Angel was sent off a 10/1 chance for his debut over 7f at Haydock in July, and despite being very slowly away made a huge impression when cutting down his rivals late on to get up by a length, hitting the line very well.
On that evidence, the step up to the mile will really suit this lad and despite having to carry a winner’s penalty and concede weight to the entire field, he should be a class apart if he puts his best foot forward. It might be worth noting that Crowley doesn’t go to Windsor that often. In the last five years, he has had 20 rides and 6 of them have won, a really healthy 30 per cent return.
There are a couple of dangers in here including Calyxoh who went close in a Newmarket novice last time, and Shrimp Shady who should build on his eyecatching second at Kempton last month so it’s a decent race and will reveal plenty of clues that is for sure.
