Irish trainer John Ryan sends two on the 1019-mile round trip to Plumpton ⛴️

Irish trainer John Patrick Ryan has never had a runner at Plumpton before and you can see why. It’s a mammoth journey from his County Tipperary base to the Sussex track. You would imagine it’s a costly trip and not one to make unless you were expecting some compensation.

He’s set to send two runners over to Plumpton on Monday and they form a juicy 21-1 double. Danny Mullins is booked for both rides and it could be significant that he makes the journey over as well. Why not check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

2.15 Plumpton

Flidais (5-1, bet365) absolutely bolted up in a Kilbeggan maiden hurdle back in June. She won that race by 30 lengths and the second has boosted the form by winning twice since. Her five runs since have been pretty underwhelming, with the highlight being a 22-length seventh behind the horse she beat at Kilbeggan in handicap company in August. The form of her victory would suggest she’s capable of putting in a good performance here but she needs to bounce back quickly. John Ryan owns this horse so he’ll be fitting the bill if she comes home empty-handed.

2.45 Plumpton

Highland Sting (11-4, bet365) is still a maiden over hurdles and fences, after 22 starts. Perhaps his best effort to date came on his hurdles debut at Sligo in October 2021, where he was a six-length second to a very useful sort. Some of his best efforts have come over distances in excess of 3m1f so the long trip here may well be to his liking. He was hampered four out at Sligo last time and can be forgiven for that run. Improvement is clearly needed but connections will probably be expecting better here.
