Irish trainer John Ryan sends two on the 1019-mile round trip to Plumpton ⛴️

It’s getting more and more expensive to transport horses to the races, as costs continue to rise. Irish trainer John Patrick Ryan is based in County Tipperary so it’s always a substantial journey if he has a runner in Britain. There are closer tracks to raid than Plumpton however, as the Sussex track is over 500 miles away. It could therefore be significant that he sends two on the 1019-mile round trip there on Monday. Sure to be an costly trip, connections will surely be seeking some compensation. You can check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

12.30 Plumpton

Flidais was one of Ryan’s two runners at the track on his last double raid here. Finishing second that day, she didn’t quite have the pace to live with the winner that day. Her impressive maiden hurdle victory at Kilbeggan in June came over an extended 2m2f so the step up in trip here could well suit. The Nicky Henderson runner appears to be the main danger and could prove hard to beat. It would be no surprise to see her fill the runner-up spot behind him.

3.20 Plumpton

Bonarc‘s best effort over fences to date came at Clonmel in April 2022, on just her second start over fences. She finished third by just two lengths that day. If reproducing that level of form in handicap company here, she should go very close. Ryan’s mare will need to put a disappointing effort at Sligo in September behind her but she may find this race less competitive. Daniel King takes 3lb off, which should make her life a little easier.
