Leading Irish Flat jockey Billy Lee is set to take a ride at Cheltenham’s November meeting on Saturday. Could that be a tip in itself? Make sure you check out our free horse racing tips for the weekend’s action!
Billy Lee is set to ride Paddy Twomey’s Seo Linn in the closing bumper at Cheltenham on Saturday. This horse won a Ballinrobe bumper for the yard in August before finishing fourth in a Listed bumper at Gowran Park last month.
The Order Of St George filly seemingly has a liking for some ease in the ground so the surface could be a slight concern for her, but her pedigree would suggest she should enjoy the Cheltenham hill and she goes there with a chance.
Lee won a Listed hurdle for trainer Tommy Stack back in 2005 aboard Wanango and he has had three rides at Cheltenham in the past with no success, but he wouldn’t be coming here to ride this horse unless she had a chance.
There are many dangers in the race, including another Irish raider in the shape of the Willie Mullins-trained Korinthia. The unbeaten mare is short enough in the betting and will be ridden by Patrick Mullins. She’s a worthy favourite.
Of the British hopefuls, Dan Skelton’s £120,000 purchase Settle Down Jill has a lovely pedigree and is worth monitoring in the market, while Fergal O’Brien’s £80,000 buy Siog Geal is a point winner who finished second at Aintree on her rules debut.
One thing is for sure, this should be an informative race and all eyes are on Billy Lee here!
