Horses for courses: Four horses with proven track records to consider on Thursday

There are many important factors to consider when trying to pick out a winner and course form is certainly one of them. Horses aren’t machines but they are individuals who perform better at some tracks than others. With this in mind, we’ve picked out four runners on Thursday that have multiple previous course victories to their name and should therefore have an advantage. 3.40 Haydock

Hyperfocus has four wins and two placed efforts to his name in just eight starts at Haydock. Tim Easterby’s 10-year-old returned to form with victory at Chester when last seen and should go close once again, off a 2lb higher mark here.

3.48 Perth

Petrastar has a strike-rate of 50 per cent at Perth, winning three of his six starts there. He should be suited by the return to hurdles as his recent chase form has been a little underwhelming. An impressive winner of a course and distance novice hurdle back in 2020, a big run can’t be ruled out.

4.30 Yarmouth

Anglo Saxson is no stranger to Yarmouth, having raced here 13 times previously. Patrick Owens’ gelding has won here four times and the most recent of those successes came back in May 2023. Third off a 1lb higher mark on his most recent visit, he should be bang in the mix once again.

4.50 Perth

Pammi has won at Perth no fewer than seven times and that means she has to go under consideration. She scored over course and distance in September and is currently on a 6lb lower mark. That evidence suggests Jim Goldie’s mare should be dangerous and and improved effort is expected.
