‘His strike-rate is unreal’ – Britain’s hottest jockey heads to Exeter for two rides

It has been a good couple of weeks for jockey Ben Jones and he is currently Britain’s most in-form jockey at the moment. His strike-rate is unreal as he has seven winners from 12 rides at the time of writing. With that in mind, it could be worth checking out his two rides at Exeter on Tuesday.

One is an interesting bumper debutant, whilst the other runs in a handicap hurdle earlier on in the card. We’re going to assess the chances of both rides because you wouldn’t want to rule out another winner. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

4.00 Exeter

Mind Hunter has won one of his 16 starts over hurdles so far, placing a further three times. That sole victory came over 2m1f at Newton Abbot back in 2022 and he was an easy winner off a 10lb higher mark that day. The son of Gleneagles ran a cracker to finish second at Ffos Las on his penultimate start.

A reproduction of that form would give him every chance of going close once again, although he was comfortably beaten at Uttoxeter when last seen. The handicapper has dropped him a pound since and this race does look fairly winnable.

5.05 Exeter

Dakota Star makes his debut in this 1m5f bumper for three-year-olds and he’s related to a couple of winners. It’s worth noting that his dam was unplaced in bumpers however so it’s hard to know what to expect from him here. Philip Hobbs & Johnson White have a 50 per cent strike-rate with their bumper runners so far this season so that does bode well for his chances.
