‘His record in this race is superb’ – 20/1 ante-post tip for Ascot on Saturday

Horse racing is in Liam's blood and his biggest passion is jumps racing. He can often be found at his favourite tracks; Chepstow and Cheltenham in the Autumn when the National Hunt action kicks off. Threeunderthrufive (20/1, bet365) is very useful when in good form and his record in this race is superb. Now an 11-year-old the Paul Nicholls-trained gelding won this race two seasons ago and is currently on a 5lb lower mark.

Second by a nose in last year’s renewal, he looks very well treated on that evidence. His two runs so far this season haven’t been great but the handicapper has responded and a return to form could be on the cards. Paul Nicholls’ form has been much better in recent weeks and that definitely bodes well.

3.15 Haydock (Saturday)

Grand Geste (10/1, Betfred) can be forgiven for his below-par display at Doncaster last time out as he was never travelling and that wasn’t an accurate reflection of his ability. Joel Parkinson & Sue Smith’s gelding was a good winner of a competitive race here before that and he’s worth giving a go over this marathon trip. It’s possible that we haven’t seen the best of this lightly raced chaser.
