It’s that exciting time of year for National Hunt fans as the big stable tours provide plenty to look forward to for the season ahead. Nicky Henderson’s stable tour came out recently and he could be in for another big season. We’ve picked out four horses which he’s particularly excited to unleash. Excello is another French import which Henderson is particularly excited to see this season. The trainer said: “Options are open for this promising summer signing as he’s a novice over fences until November 30, but can then run in novice hurdles, which is what I suspect we’ll do. He’s a lovely, big import and I can’t wait to get going, but, like most French-breds, he might want plenty of cut in the ground. His schooling over fences has been rather smart.”
Fierce Warrior has had two starts for the yard so far and his trainer is anticipating that there’s plenty more to come. Henderson said: “He’d long shown potential and built on his debut to win at Worcester in May, and has strengthened up considerably since. There’s little doubt he could be more than alright.”
Jeriko Du Reponet bolted up in an Irish point at Kirkistown back in March and Henderson is enamoured by him. He said: “He looks special – he’s stunning – and won his point easily. He’s the sort of horse you dream about and looks pretty mature so should be ready for hurdling. He’s an outstanding prospect, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he can gallop!”
Kintail is a bumper winner with plenty of potential according to his trainer. Henderson said: “He did everything right at home before his debut second, which he followed by winning what I think was a strong Warwick bumper. He’s got the looks, pedigree and potential to fly high as a novice hurdler.”
