‘He’s riding out of his skin’ – Ryan Moore Lucky 15 on Day 1 of the July Festival

Jockey Ryan Moore is always the man for the big occasion but he’s been riding out of his skin this year. He has proven himself time and time again and was crowned top jockey at Royal Ascot last month. 1.50 Newmarket

Portland was successful in a Listed race at Leopardstown last month and wasn’t suited by the drop back to 1m2f in the Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot. Victory here would put him in the St Leger picture and there could be more to come from Aidan O’Brien’s colt.

2.25 Newmarket

Whistlejacket was hugely impressive when getting off the mark in a Listed race at the Curragh and was very well backed in the Norfolk Stakes. Keeping on nicely to finish fourth, the return to 6f looks likely to suit and he’s clearly a very talented individual.

3.35 Newmarket

Time Lock was progressive towards the back end of last season and won a Group 3 on the Rowley Mile in September. She didn’t take to the track when uncharacteristically poor in the Coronation Cup at Epsom and is clearly better than that. This looks easier and she can get back on track here.

5.20 Newmarket

Twirling returned to winning ways in a handicap at Doncaster on her penultimate start and was a little disappointing in the Kensington Palace at Royal Ascot. She perhaps would have benefitted from a drop in the weights but this race is significantly weaker and better is expected this time around.
