‘Her last ride in Ireland was a Group 1 success’ – Hollie Doyle has first Fairyhouse ride

Hollie Doyle rode her first ever winner in Ireland when steering Bradsell to success in the Group 1 Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh at the Irish Champions Festival this month. The top-class jockey has only ever ridden at two Irish turf tracks in her career but that’s all about to change on Monday as Doyle will be at Fairyhouse to ride two horses. Let’s take a look at them!

5.10 Fairyhouse

Doyle’s first ride is aboard the Ado MuGuinness filly Elinor Dashwood in the 7f fillies’ handicap with a decent pot up for grabs. She contested a valuable handicap at Leopardstown at the Irish Champions Festival and finished fifth of 19 behind Vera’s Secret, bang there in second at the furlong pole but just weakening late on. She runs off the same mark here and the drop in trip should suit as her career victories have come over 6f and 7f. It could be a nice start to the day for Doyle.

5.45 Fairyhouse

Archie Watson has sent over Vingegaard to take his chance in the 6f Listed Blenheim Stakes and it’s a race the British have landed a couple of times in recent years, with Charlie Fellowes’ Moonlit Show winning in 2016 and Tom Dascombe’s Sir Boris winning in 2019. This son of Mehmas was given a positive ride when fourth in a Group 3 at Kempton when last seen. His overall profile would suggest he needs to find some improvement to trouble some of the market principals but he wouldn’t be here unless he was fancied to go well and Watson won a Group 1 at the Curragh with Bradsell this month.
