‘Heavy ground form is essential’ – Three horses suited by conditions at Nottingham

The relentless rain over the last couple of months means many of our recent meetings have been on soft or heavy ground. That’s the case once again at Nottingham on Thursday as the going is expected to be heavy, soft in places.

Heavy ground form will therefore be essential on the day and we have you covered on that front. Here are three runners at Nottingham that should thrive in the conditions. Why not check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

2.38 Nottingham

Huddle Up has only failed to make the frame once in three starts on heavy ground and he was third off this mark in a better race than this at Goodwood when last seen. A repeat performance on similarly heavy ground would surely give him every chance here.

3.13 Nottingham

World Of Darcy could hardly be in better form and is clearly a horse on the up. John Ryan’s gelding completed a hat-trick of soft and heavy ground wins at Brighton last week and although life will be harder under a double penalty here, he should run his race once again.

3.48 Nottingham

Ebony Maw goes on most types of ground but the fact that he has two wins and three placed efforts to his name on heavy, suggests he could have an advantage here. Victorious on his penultimate start at Ayr, one would imagine a 2lb higher mark won’t be too damaging to his chances. He has been around the block, stays further and the Scottish raider can take some prize money back north of the border.
