This season’s Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival is shaping up to be an absolute cracker but there’s one horse in there who tickles my fancy the most after the Christmas period and he could go off a lot shorter than 12/1 if he turns up there in March!
Although I tipped and napped Skylight Hustle for the Grade 1 Paddy Power Future Champions Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown during the Christmas period for the Racing Post Spotlight team, and although he won, I couldn’t have been more impressed with how Joseph O’Brien’s Talk The Talk travelled through his race and ultimately should have readily won.
Owned by Simon Munir & Isaac Souede, the son of Walk In The Park had some jumping issues when winning his first two hurdle starts this season. The irony is he actually jumped very well the last day, only to fall at the last when in control of the race.
Skylight Hustle had a dream run around chasing the leaders and looked a sure winner on the turn for home, but Talk The Talk came from further back in the style of a very good horse and was desperately unlucky to crash out at the final flight.
That is a race that has been won by some serious horses in the past and the form has to be taken very seriously. He will enjoy a strong pace to aim at at Cheltenham and I can see him cutting through the field late on to win going up the hill, providing he can stay on his feet! Take the 12/1 now is my advice! I have.
