We have a decent card to look forward to at Ayr Racecourse on Thursday and it’s going to suit horses who enjoy a bit of soft in the description. Let’s take a look at the three who I think could go well in the forecast conditions, and remember, you can find all of today’s free horse racing tips on the website now.
He comes with risks attached in a trappy little handicap chase but Chumlee might be up to the job on his chasing debut despite being 4lb wrong at the weights. The 10-year-old has only seen the track eight times in his career so he has clearly had his issues, but his best form is in the mud and he’s a dual winner over hurdles on soft. He is coming back from a lengthy break here so there’s a chance he might need the run, but he should handle the ground better than most.
A Boxing Day winner at Sedgefield, Achnamara has never raced on soft ground so conditions could be against him here. That could leave the door open for Mike Smith’s Love That, who has fallen three times from her six career starts but she has made the frame in all three completed starts. She was no match for a runaway winner at Kelso latest but is an interesting runner on handicap bow.
Whistle Stop Tour is another who relished soft ground and he can follow up his recent Kelso handicap success. He won very smoothly on the day and a 6lb hike might not stop him in his tracks.
