The Christmas action continues on Saturday with the highlight being the Welsh National at Chepstow! Adrian Wall is back with his usual feast of ITV Racing outsiders, and has picked out four to follow on the day.
Hansard will have to improve again to take a race of this nature but he won a three-runner beginners’ nicely at Lingfield at short odds when last seen and this is just his third start over larger obstacles. The former Gerry Feilden winner isn’t discounted at all in this.
Ramo is coming back from a lengthy absence here but Venetia Williams knows how to get them ready after a break and he won on his reappearance in 2023 so fresh might be the time to catch him. His form late last season leaves much to be desired but the break might have worked.
Nassalam was a 34-length winner of this race two years ago off a mark of 145, and although he comes with major risks attached, he might be worth a nibble at the prices. He hasn’t run a good race since and has been pulled up five times from his six runs since then, but he’s back down to his last winning mark and comes here off the back of a wind operation. If that had the desired effect, perhaps he might surprise here with a massive run at good odds.
De Temps En Temps has improved since joining this yard from Ireland, winning a maiden and novice hurdle. He was below his best in a Cheltenham handicap when last seen but could be worth another chance.
