Saturday is going to be a busy one, with lots of racing taking place on both sides of the Irish Sea. ITV will be showing nine races live, with Flat racing from Musselburgh and National Hunt action from Haydock. Course form is always worth considering so with that in mind, we’ve picked out three horses with proven course records at Musselburgh. These include a six-time course winner and he definitely knows his way around. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Gweedore (13/2, bet365) has had 16 previous starts at Musselburgh, making the frame in all but two of those. He knows his way around we can be relatively confident that he will run his race once again. Katie Scott’s nine-year-old won this race back in 2023 and was also second in last year’s renewal. Victorious off a 3lb lower mark last time out, he should be there or thereabouts.
Wise Eagle (7/1, bet365) is a very smart performer across both codes and has won four of his six Flat starts here at Musselburgh. Fourth in this race last year, he was only beaten by a length-and-a-half that day and looks very well treated off an 8lb lower mark. The yard is in good form at the moment and it would be no surprise to see him make the frame here.
Pilgrim (8/1, bet365) has struggled in two starts on the all-weather but David & Nicola Barron’s five-year-old is a better horse on turf. The son of Havana Grey bolted up over course and distance in June 2024, before following up at Royal Ascot. He finished second in the Ripon Silver Sprint last term and should be going close off a 4lb lower mark this time around.
