‘He is bred to handle a rattling surface’ – three fast-ground lovers at Royal Ascot

We have had a good spell of weather in Britain this week so the ground at Royal Ascot is forecasted to be good to firm yet again. The action gets under way there at 2.30pm on Saturday and Adrian Wall has found three horses that should all relish the fast conditions. Please note that the ground can change rapidly so be sure to check that the ground is still fast come post time before you place your bets.

2.30 Ascot

Karl Burke’s Motawahij handled good to firm well when second at Hamilton on debut over 6f this month and with big improvement expected, he should run a big race. In the same colours, Shareholder who won at this meeting this week had a very similar profile and this son of American Pharoah wasn’t knocked about either. More to come.

3.05 Ascot

Aidan O’Brien’s Continuous loves a rattling surface and he should be well up to winning the Hardwicke if he’s ready to roll after an absence. Last seen finishing fifth in the Arc, last year’s Great Voltigeur and St Leger winner is the class act in the contest and he should have the measure of these on his favoured ground. He has been a positive in the market all week.

3.45 Ascot

Last year’s shock 80/1 winner of the Jubilee, Khaadem is back for more this year and he’s a big price to show his true colours again. He was well below form in the Duke of York last time but that was his first run since September. Although he can blow hot and cold, when he puts it together he’s a class act and more often than not he runs well on fast ground.
