From a betting point of view at Pontefract, there are a couple of things that you need to watch out for when looking for an angle. The first thing is the draw, which can be so vital around Pontefract. Being drawn on the inside is generally a major positive especially over sprint trips. Another thing is the pace angle – it is a course that typically suits a front-runner. Below are three horses drawn low that should have huge chances on Monday.
Ardisia is a son of Ardad and fetched £33,000 as a yearling; He’s a half-brother to winners Prince Of Rome (5f AW inc 2yo; RPR 92), Mia Grande (French 9.5f AW) and Exertive (Italian 8.7f-1m2f), while his dam was placed over 6f on the all-weather. He has the perfect draw in stall one and arrives here off the back of a winning debut at Musselburgh 12 days ago. Should win.
Under The Radar is a son of Profitable who cost 14,000gns as a yearling; He’s a half-brother to French Listed-placed 6f 2yo winner Kokachin (RPR 90). Although his dam was unraced, she’s a half-sister to US Graded stakes-placed 6f-1m winner Let’s Meet In Rio, and is out of a half-sister to the top-class miler Kingman.
Jewel Maker is a massive price at the 25/1 at the time of writing this article. He may be a 10-year-old but he’s a C&D winner who was last seen winning at Newcastle in November but he flopped at that venue when last seen in January. This trip suits as does turf and with a nice inside draw, he looks overpriced.
