‘He has a good chance on handicap debut’ – three Saturday ITV outsiders

Adrian Wall is back with his weekly feast of ITV Racing outsiders and he has picked out three horses who should outrun their large odds on Saturday. Make sure you check out our free horse racing tips for the weekend, and remember, always bet responsibly.

1.35 Newcastle

Wodao (22/1) is an interesting runner on his first start for Jamie Osborne and on his handicap debut also. Formerly trained by Donnacha O’Brien in Ireland, he is a 5f Navan maiden winner and a Listed winner in 2022, while he also chased home Marshman in a French Group 3 last year. He has gone off the boil since but returns off the back of a gelding operation from a fair mark and if there’s any market support it would be significant.

2.04 Newcastle

Fivethousandtoone (16/1) looks overpriced for the Balding team in the following 6f Group 3 contest under David Probert. The son of Frankel disappointed in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot but he won a valuable handicap over course and distance in March and he has never been out of the first three in four runs at this venue. This is a tough race but we know he loves the surface and that’s half the battle. He can fight out the finish.

3.10 Newcastle

Deborah Faulkner had two winners at Chepstow this week and with the trainer in form, a chance is taken on Golden Flame (33/1) despite a lengthy absence. He ran in some big handicaps when trained by the Johnstons, including the Irish Cesarewitch in 2022, and if all is well with him after a spell on the sidelines, he could be well treated off his current mark on his return.
