Gordon Elliott sends two runners to Ayr for the first time this season

Gordon Elliott is a regular raider at many of Britain’s northern and Scottish tracks and he has a notable strike-rate of 24 per cent at Ayr in the last five seasons, with six winners from 25 runners. It could therefore be worth noting that he’s set to send two runners to the track for the first time this season on Monday. 2.20 Ayr

Western Fold doesn’t look massively well treated on a British mark of 138 but he was in the process of running a decent enough race behind Majborough at Fairyhouse last time out and his last fence fall was an unfortunate one. That was the six-year-old’s first start of the season however and you would imagine he’s likely to improve for the run.

Scoring twice over hurdles, he won a Gowran maiden in good style back in November 2023 and the runner-up boosted the form by winning a couple of starts later. He was even more impressive when taking a Down Royal novice hurdle this time last year and there’s surely more to come over fences.

3.27 Ayr

Undeniable Alibi was bought for €170,000 after winning a point-to-point and it only took two bites of the cherry before he got off the mark over hurdles. It was a workmanlike one-length success but he managed to get the job done nonetheless.

Things haven’t quite gone to plan so far this season and his three starts over fences have been pretty underwhelming. Well beaten when upped to 2m6f at Fairyhouse earlier this month, he needs to prove his stamina now trying three miles for the first time here.
