Gordon Elliott is a regular raider at the Scottish tracks and he launched a very successful one at Ayr last month, which yielded a 51/1 treble.
With that in mind, keeping a close eye on his two runners at the course on Thursday could be a good idea. One of them is an incredibly well bred mare who goes in the opening maiden hurdle, whilst the other is bidding to follow up after getting off the mark last time out.
We’ve also included a betting slip for those interested in taking a punt on the double. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Apples Jane has an impeccable pedigree, being by Walk In The Park and out of the superstar mare Apples Jade. It’s therefore a bit of a surprise that she has failed to get off the mark in seven starts under rules. She came very close when second in a Navan bumper on debut. Her two starts over hurdles haven’t been great so far but there were small signs of improvement at Clonmel last time and this race looks winnable.
Stede Bonnet has loads of experience already and managed to win two of his three starts in bumpers. The first of those was an impressive six-and-a-half-length victory at Clonmel over the summer. Second over course and distance on his hurdling debut, the five-year-old went one better in good style at Tramore on New Years’ Day. Sean Bowen has been booked for the ride and he looks capable of defying a penalty in this company.
