Backed from a high of 14/1 all the way into now top price 5/1 at the time of writing this article, Ramon Di Loria has been hammered in overnight and it’s clear connections are expecting a big effort in the 5f sprint handicap.

The gelding has run in 0-78 and 0-65 company on his last two starts, and although he failed to land a blow he is now running in 0-60 company so it doesn’t get much easier than this in terms of class.

Another positive for backers is the fact he is a former course and distance winner and that came off a mark of 73 last year. Now running off just 59, he is thrown in at the weights and it’s no surprise to see the money come for him when you see how many boxes he is ticking today.

If there is a negative, trainer Ewan Whillans has only saddled one winner at this track in the last five years and he wouldn’t be the most prolific of trainers, operating at around 9 per cent this year to date with seven winners on the board.
