Plenty can be learnt from watching the markets as you can grasp the level of confidence behind each horse. There are no guarantees in this game unfortunately but it can often give you a good indication. There’s one runner at Nottingham on Wednesday which is the subject of an unbelievable amount of market support. The horse in question was as big as 33-1 on Wednesday morning but sustained interest has completely crashed its price. Now available at just 11-2, this is certainly a situation that’s worth keeping an eye on. You can check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Eljaytee is the subject of this massive gamble and there’s definitely some logic to it. Trained by John Berry, he’s been rather below-par in his last three starts. On the positive side, this has caused his mark to slip down to 46, which he won off at Yarmouth in April. The form of that victory has worked out fairly well, with the second and third both winning twice since.
This would suggest that Berry’s charge absolutely has the ability to win here but needs to return to form very quickly. That aforementioned win came on soft so he should appreciate the fact that there’s some juice in the ground. Alex Jary is set to take the ride here and his jockey’s 3lb claim will undoubtedly come in handy.
It wouldn’t take a miracle for him to return to winning ways here and you can see the logic behind the gamble. There are a couple of non-runners here which may have impacted his price but in no way does that account for the fact that he began the day at 33-1.
