Senor Diaz has been a bit hit and miss in seven starts over hurdles so far but there have been some positive signs in a couple of his runs to date. Third of six in a Southwell bumper on debut, that was a reasonable effort and he wasn’t beaten too far on the day.

There was lots to like about his second at Chepstow in January 2024, where he was a little outpaced at a key stage over two miles before keeping on well. Disappointing at Exeter after that, he was then switched to handicaps, where he ran well enough back in fourth over an extended 2m4f on good ground.

Seamus Mullins’ six-year-old was entitled to need the run at Taunton last month, as it was his first start for 273 days and improvement is expected. Ivane currently heads the market and he was a winner in Ireland for previous connections. The lightly raced Vendant could also be one to keep an eye on.
