Our resident horse racing man Adrian Wall has always been an avid market watcher. He has spotted a pretty large ongoing gamble taking place at Wolverhampton Racecourse today. A modest January evening card at Wolverhampton has been made a little more interesting with the fact a runner has been backed in from big prices all the way into 7/2 in the 7f handicap for runners rated 0-70. The horse in question is the Jack Morland-trained Nacho Nacho Nacho who is turned out quickly after running just eight days ago.
The big gamble was a recent winner over this course and distance when scoring off a rating of 73 during the Christmas period. Given it was a small winning margin, he only went up 2lb for his next start at Southwell when racing far too keenly and suffering from those early exertions late on, beating just one of the 11 other rivals home.
Now returning to the scene of his recent win, Nacho Nacho Nacho should feel more at home back at Wolverhampton and he’s certainly handicapped to go well. It’s also worth noting that Callum Shepherd was aboard the day he won but wasn’t aboard at Southwell, so the fact that he is back in the plate again bodes very well for his chances.
There are many dangers in here, notably Scott Dixon’s Bella Bisbee who is entitled to go very close, but it looks like a fascinating handicap this evening.
