Four-timer on Thursday – 1-2-3 in the National – Willie Mullins’ Sunday double to follow

What a week it has been for Team Willie Mullins again. When you think the man can do no more, he goes and does more. Not only did Mullins win the first four races at Aintree on Thursday, an incredible week was capped off as the master of Closutton saddled the first three home in the Grand National!

There’s a couple of quality races at Fairyhouse on Sunday and Mullins has a strong chance in them both!

2.35 Fairyhouse

Mullins sends three out to take part in the Grade 2 novice hurdle over 2m4f, but Paul Townend has opted to ride Ballygunner Castle and that could be a tip in itself. The dual bumper winner saw off a subsequent winner on his hurdles bow around here over 2m on good ground in November, and he was last seen finishing second to Ballybow in a three-runner affair at Clonmel over 3m on latest. The drop in trip should suit and the ground will be ideal for him too. He does need to improve to win this but the way Willie is firing at present, it would be hard to bet against it.

3.37 Fairyhouse

Fourth in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham when last seen, Karniquet should gain his first Graded victory for the Mullins team in the Grade 2 novice hurdle over 2m. A winner on his stable debut at Tramore in November, he was second in a Grade 1 behind the top-class Kopek Des Bordes at Leopardstown during Christmas before another good run at Prestbury Park. This looks like a great opportunity for him to win in the hands of Townend.
