Ludlow has been a happy hunting ground for Fergal O’Brien so far this season. The Gloucestershire-based trainer has sent four runners to the track so far and all of them have won. It could therefore be significant that he sends one runner to the track on Thursday. It appears that the horse in question should have every chance of extending the trainer’s unbeaten record. Snatch A Glance has had three starts under rules so far and he started off in a bumper at Taunton, where he finished fourth behind useful prospect Act Of Innocence. He looked very green at a key stage and ran well to keep on for fourth under the circumstances.
Denied on the line when second by a short head at Huntingdon next time, the front two finished well clear of the rest and O’Brien’s gelding produced a much more professional display. This son of Passing Glance progressed again to get off the mark comfortably in a bumper here earlier this month.
Far too keen in the early stages of the race, that had no impact on his finishing effort however and he went clear to score by two-and-a-quarter lengths. He makes his first start over hurdles here and has a fitness advantage over all but one of his rivals.
The five-year-old has improved with every run so far and that trend can continue in this sphere. Jack The Boss, Lord Cauvelliere and Amancio look like the main dangers but O’Brien has every chance of extending his unbeaten record here.
