‘Don’t write her off’ – 33/1, 25/1 and 12/1 ITV outsiders for Aintree and Sandown

It’s another day of great action on ITV on Saturday and Adrian Wall is back with his weekly feast of outsiders on the day. He has picked out three horses who should outrun their large odds live on ITV Racing. Adrian is in cracking form and had provided followers with cracking 25/1 and 18/1 winners recently. Dan Skelton runs three here and on jockey bookings, perhaps Honky Tonk Highway (25/1) is the third string, but she is far from the forgotten horse. A Listed bumper winner on debut, she won a Listed novices’ hurdle over this course and distance last season before going down narrowly to subsequent Albert Bartlett third Derryhassen Paddy at Windsor. She was pulled up at Bangor on return but don’t write her off.

Twig (33/1) is now a veteran but the old boy battled really well when seeing off three rivals in a 3m veteran’s handicap chase here on return last month. There is far more on his plate here obviously but he is entitled to strip fitter for that outing and he is only gone up 1lb in the ratings. He handles any ground, stays this far, and he might be a live each-way contender in a very competitive handicap.

3.35 Sandown

Rivers Corner (12/1) is a big price in the closing contest at Sandown taking the recent form of the Tizzard yard into account. Twice a winner over hurdles for Syd Hosie, he gained his first chase win for this yard over just shy of 3m at Newbury last March. A good third over an inadequate trip at Exeter on return, that should put him spot on for this.
