Trainer Paul Nicholls needs no introduction and the master of Ditcheat could be about to unleash a very talented horse at Chepstow on Thursday! Can he live up to expectations or will he have to come back and prove himself next time out?
The closing 2m bumper at Chepstow has been made all the more interesting with the declaration of Stick To The Board, who on paper should find this a very winnable opportunity at the first time of asking under Harry Cobden.
Part-owned by Sir Alex Ferguson, the son of Crystal Ocean was coming to challenge the eventual winner when a faller at the last in a Dromoahane point-to-point in February 2025, and he most likely would have won on the day.
The eventual winner Red Acres Max is now with Jamie Snowden and won a Carlisle bumper in style this week, while the runner-up Soul Asylum landed a Punchestown bumper for Gordon Elliott last month, so the form certainly looks above-average.
At Tatts Cheltenham in November, Stick To The Board was purchased for a hefty £215,000. He is a half-brother to bumper, 1m7f hurdle and 2m3f chase winner Belle The Lioness, while his dam is closely related to the high-class Monalee, a Grade 1-winning chaser who ran his heart out at four Cheltenham Festivals, including a close fourth in the Gold Cup.
This is a nice opportunity for Stick To The Board to get a win on the board at the first time of asking under rules. It will be interesting to see what the betting makes of him but it would be no shock if he went off a skinny price.
