‘Conditions won’t suit everyone’ – These three will love the heavy ground at Fairyhouse

The going is officially described as heavy at Fairyhouse on Friday so the conditions won’t suit everyone. Fast ground horses will surely be out of the question and we should be on the lookout for those with proven form on heavy. We’ve got you covered on that front and have picked out three horses who have previously won on heavy ground and should therefore have an advantage. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.41 Fairyhouse

Only three runners in this race have won on heavy before and two are badly out of form, leaving Duffys Hodey as the best option. Philip Rothwell’s eight-year-old was progressive over hurdles last season and won nicely on heavy ground at Punchestown in February. This will be just his second start over fences and if continuing on an upward trajectory, another big run could be on the cards.

2.16 Fairyhouse

Prolific winner Fountain House is surely the one to beat here, especially as one of his seven victories last season came on heavy ground. Ian McCarthy’s seven-year-old also won a couple of hunter chases, most notably at the Punchestown Festival when last seen. A lack of fitness is the only possible weakness, other than that he should prove very hard to beat.

2.51 Fairyhouse

Teescomponentsyess has three wins and two placed efforts to his name in just six completed starts on heavy ground. Shark Hanlon’s nine-year-old should be significantly advantaged by the conditions and his last win came on heavy at Gowran in February. The return to hurdles shouldn’t be a problem and it would be dangerous to rule out another big run.
