It was a brilliant day for the British on the Tuesday of the Cheltenham Festival. By the same token, it certainly wasn’t the best of days for both Gordon Elliott and Willie Mullins. The latter won the finale with Stattler but that was it for the two Irish powerhouses. Britain won the first three races with Constitution Hill, Edwardstone and Corach Rambler and they may well repeat the feat on Wednesday. So, what is the most likely British treble in the first three races tomorrow then?
I have no doubt in my mind that Sir Gerhard wouldn’t have got close to Constitution Hill in the Supreme. He may well win the Ballymore but he is an awful price. By Jeremy, a sire better known for his two-milers, he could be worth taking on over this trip. Paul Nicholls’ Stage Star could be the horse to beat him. Unbeaten over hurdles, he obliterated the field in the Challow Hurdle and this is his trip.
The British have another cracking chance in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase and touted to be very like Denman, Bravemansgame has certainly lived up to the hype thus far. He looks like a pure natural over larger obstacles and made it four wins on the bounce over fences in a handicap at Newbury off 159 in February. This boy could be an absolute monster and it might take a good one to beat him.
It is always interesting when you see market support for a JP McManus-owned runner and that is what we have here with Camprond. He was a dual novice winner over middle distances and the former Grade 2 winner could be potentially very well treated from a mark of 140. Likely to be fresh from a break, the former course winner should run a big race.
