Charlie Appleby is an exceptional trainer who somehow manages to maintain impressive strike-rates almost everywhere he goes. That is definitely true of Nottingham, as he has a strike-rate of 50 per cent at the track so far this year, with three winners from six runners. You may want to take note of his sole runner there on Thursday, as the stats certainly bode well for her chances. William Buick heads there just to ride the horse. Enchanted Queen has a smart pedigree and it seems likely that she’ll come into her own over longer trips next year. Her dam was a Group 2 winner in France and she’s by the excellent Group 1 winner Ghaiyyath. This filly has a proper Godolphin pedigree and should be winning races before long.
Ralph Beckett’s Lady Roisia was third behind a couple of very smart fillies on debut and she looks like the biggest danger. Andrew Balding’s Littlecote makes her debut here and a big run can’t be ruled out, as she’s related to a Group 2 winner.
Making her debut over 7f at Newmarket in August, she showed some promise and kept on well, despite not having the pace to challenge. It’s therefore no surprise that connections decided to step her up to a mile next time and she may want even further next time.
She bumped into an impressive winner that day and is probably better than her finishing effort suggested that day. The extra half-a-furlong could make the difference and she doesn’t need to improve much in order to win here.
