We are set for another stellar weekend of action in the US as the Breeders’ Cup 2024 kicks off at Del Mar on Friday. We will take a look at the five runners Aidan O’Brien will send out on Saturday and make sure you check out our Breeders’ Cup tips on the website!
Luxembourg made every post a winning one when landing the Coronation Cup at Epsom earlier in the season and he ran well in the Irish Champion at Leopardstown when last seen. Moore and O’Brien won this race last year so he has to be of interest. His other runner in the field is Wingspan, who finished second in the Fillies & Mares’ on Champions Day at Ascot but Moore prefers the former.
This is the night for City Of Troy, a race which will make or break him in terms of his legacy. He is already a superstar but this has always been the big plan for him. The son of Justify is bred to handle dirt, but is he too short in the market? Let’s see!
Ylang Ylang is out of the way now and that means Content is the yard’s number one for the Filly & Mare Turf. She comes with big risks attached and can throw in a stinker occasionally, but this has been the big plan for her.
Diego Velazquez was hugely regressive but O’Brien worked his magic again and he has looked right back to his best on his last two outings in Ireland. A repeat of his Meld Stakes win would put him right in the mix.
