British Champions Fillies & Mares

Garden Of Eden (25/1, bet365) was an impressive winner of the Ribblesdale Stakes over course and distance at the Royal meeting. It’s hard to justify a price this big on that evidence, especially as she’s trained by Aidan O’Brien. It was a better effort at York last time, despite not being good enough to cope with stablemate Minnie Hauk, but this race looks significantly easier.

Futurity Trophy

Benvenuto Cellini (13/8, bet365) is very hard to oppose and any price is a good price. He produced a dominant display to win the Group 2 KPMG Juvenile Stakes at Leopardstown. Scoring by five lengths that day,  he was much too good for his rival and looks ready for Group 1s. Stablemate Hawk Mountain looks like the biggest danger but connections will surely keep them apart and send him to America.

Melbourne Cup

Al Riffa (6/1, Betfred) has thrived since going up in trip and he bolted up in the Irish St. Leger when last seen. The extra two furlongs are unlikely to be an issue here and trainer Joseph O’Brien has already won the race twice. Make no mistake, this is a proper Group 1 horse over this sort of trip and a successful raid down under could be on the cards.
