Amateur Irish rider with 20% return this season heads to Fakenham for one Friday ride
Amateur Irish rider Adam Ryan is having a tremendous season and it must be interesting that he heads across to Fakenham for just one ride on Friday’s card, before heading back over to Ireland for a ride at Cork the following day! Let’s take a look at his mount’s chance in more detail.
3.20 Fakenham
Adam Ryan will take the ride on the Neil Mulholland runner Cher Monsieur in the closing 2m4f amateur rider’s handicap hurdle and at first glance, this horse will certainly enter the reckoning.
Although the 6yo is still a maiden after after seven outings to date, he has a shout judged on the pick of his form. He started off with three poor efforts in maiden hurdles at big prices and his handicap debut at Ffos Las April offered very little too.
However, on his second handicap outing he showed a lot more ability when beaten around three lengths into third at Uttoxeter over this trip from a mark of 81.
Sent off the 5/4 favourite on his next start at Ffos Las, he was given a much more patient ride in a race that wasn’t run to suit tactically and he lacked the pace to get into things when the race got going, finishing last of the finishers.
On his return from a 180-day break at Southwell last month, he ran an eyecatching race when fourth of the eight runners, tenderly handled off a mark of 80, and this will be his first start off a rating in the 70s.
Cher Monsieur comes with risks attached but he is certainly well handicapped now and should be on the premises.
