Today’s big gamble of choice is Slotty Dotty, who has been backed from 12/1 all the way into a top price of 9/2 at the time of writing this article, although most firms out there now are just 7/2, so there has been a good weight of support for this runner this morning.

Running in the extended 3m4f Dublin National Handicap Chase on yielding to soft ground, this gruelling test is going to take some getting and Bernard Crowley’s 8yo mare gets in right at the bottom of the weights carrying 10 stone 11lbs, while Calum Hogan takes a further 5lb off to ease the burden further.

It was a welcome return to form for Slotty Dotty over hurdles at Punchestown last month when finishing runner-up to the very progressive front-runner Pebble Bleu over 2m7f and she can race from a 10lb lower mark back over larger obstacles here.

She has a bit of course form, finishing third in a mares’ maiden hurdle here in March 2024, and although she is yet to win over fences and is yet to prove she truly stays this far, connections clearly seem to be very hopeful today, that’s for sure.
