Artisan Dancer (25/1) could be capable of outrunning his odds in the 2m stayers’ handicap for trainer Charlie Johnston. He won over this trip at Ripon in April and proved his stamina when third in the extended 2m2f Chester Plate. He looked in need of a sterner test when a creditable seventh at Newmarket over 1m6f when last seen and perhaps this step up in trip will unlock more improvement.

2.45 Ascot

Houstonn (16/1) is one of a couple in here for trainer Richard Hannon but the son of Expert Eye could be a bit of value down near the bottom of the weights. He ran a good race when third in a small-field handicap over course and distance when last seen, which was his best run since filling the same position over the same track and trip on his return in May.

3.20 Ascot

Francisco’s Piece (25/1) wasn’t disgraced despite finishing tenth at York when last seen, beaten less than four lengths, and a reproduction of his form from the tail end of last year would bring him right into the equation here.
