We have another competitive card at Punchestown to look forward to on Monday and Adrian Wall has picked out his value bets at the meeting and all of them should be a tasty price!
Simple Things showed plenty of ability on debut at Fairyhouse over 2m on soft/heavy ground in November when third to Ted Walsh’s Adrienne. The Dempsey-trained filly raced far too keenly over the same course and distance when last seen in December and lost all chance early on in the contest. The first-time hood might help her to settle and if it works, she is well worth another chance.
Kilt is a former Flat winner for William Haggas and hasn’t showed much for this yard at all, but he was sent off at odds of 66-1 last time when showing a glimmer of promise at Fairyhouse, finishing a remote seventh of 18 and doing best work at the finish. He was never put into the race on that occasion but could run a big race if he’s raced closer to the pace this time from a low weight.
Paul Collins was tailed off at Cork when last seen in November but it was his first crack at three miles and he simply didn’t stay. He got up late to win a 2m6f handicap at Galway in October off a mark of 107 and is only 3lb higher here. If the drop in trip has the desired effect, he has to be considered in this grade in first-time cheekpieces.
The Man’s Room fell at the last when not involved over 2m at Fairyhouse last month but a better run could be on the cards upped in trip, judged on his runner-up over close to 2m5f in a Ballinrobe maiden hurdle last summer.
