Adrian Wall is back with his weekly feast of ITV racing outsiders and he has picked out three horses who should outrun their large odds live on TV on Saturday. Make sure you check out our free horse racing tips for the weekend, and remember, always bet responsibly.
Soft or heavy ground can completely change the complexion of a race and this Group 3 could be set up nicely for Jack Channon’s Gather Ye Rosebuds (20/1). The Zoffany filly disappointed at Doncaster last month on good ground but she won a 1m4f Listed event at Goodwood on soft in May and she’s going to relish these conditions. Miles a better horse on this ground, she is way overpriced.
Without doubt a frustrating horse, Apollo One (12/1) can make you want to pull your hair out at times but he’s a solid win and place bet in this contest. Narrowly denied in both the Stewards’ Cup and Portland handicaps, he rattled home at Doncaster latest but the line came too soon. He deserves his day in the sun and has run well in testing conditions in the past.
Star Of Arion (33/1) is worthy of a small play here for me. Eve Johnson Houghton’s gelding won three times when trained by Ralph Beckett, and has been threatening to win for his new yard of late. Placed in his last three starts at 7f/1m, he was sent off favourite for a Sandown handicap last time and was only beaten a length into third. He handles soft ground and interestingly a tongue strap is reached for now which might aid his cause.
