The track is soft on a good day usually and it’s always wise to go with horses who have form in the mud for the big race itself, the 2024 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. Longshot to consider

Haya Zark loves underfoot conditions and has a record that reads 2111 on soft, so he’s a very big price and might surprise a few under William Buick. He recorded his first win at the top level when landing the Prix Ganay here in April and this will be his final race before he is retired.

Look no further than Vega

Look De Vega is a perfect three from three on soft and that includes a win in the Group 1 Prix Du Jockey Club at Chantilly in June. He needed the run after a short break when third on slightly better ground over C&D last month but was minded under a hands and heels ride. He has big claims here for the home contingent and still only has four runs under his belt.

Aidan O’Brien’s best chance

He goes very well on quicker ground too but Los Angeles won a French Group 1 on soft at two and will handle these conditions no bother. The Irish Derby winner was only beaten a length into fourth in the Irish Champion Stakes and will relish the step up in trip.
