IN SUMMARY: Charles Hills’ THAFEERA sets a clear standard on form with her debut second to the subsequent Group Three Nell Gwyn winner Daban and she should take all the beating. She was only beaten 1/2 a length that day and with more progress to come she should open her account here. Time Chaser has a beautiful pedigree and should go on to good things whilst Sileel is worth close market attention.

1 AL JAWZA – Cost 170,000 Euros as a yearling and she ran to a modest level on racecourse debut at Wolverhampton.  That wasn’t a particularly strong contest and she steps into fillies only company here for a yard in excellent form of late (19% strike rate). Stall 12 is far from ideal and she has something to find on form with a few of these that have already raced. Others are preferred today.

2 ANGEL OF ROME – Twice-raced filly who showed improvement to finish third of eleven in a Wolverhampton maiden in March. She was slightly keen that day and still showed plenty of inexperience which hampered her effort towards the end of the race and she should improve for that run with a small 32-day break to aid her. Fran Berry is an interesting booking for this yard and she’s worth close market attention.

3 BEACH PARTY – Half-sister to a smart enough sort, out an un-raced dam. A mile looks a tough enough test on debut today with a bit of speed in her pedigree and she may just need this initial outing. Hughie Morrison has sent out some decent performers at Kempton of late but his filly will have to be ready to win first time out today. Others make more appeal.

4 CAPE TO CUBA – Half-sister to some nice enough types over 7 furlongs and James Fanshawe’s filly was purchased for an eye-catching 130,000 Euros as a yearling. She’s worth close attention in the betting for a yard that do send out their useful maidens around tracks such as Kempton. The yard are operating at a 22% strike rate here of late and she’s one of the likelier winners of this today. Interesting.

5 FIRST MOON – Took a small step backwards at Wolverhampton last time out when finishing fourth of six over an extended mile. She made a good impression on debut finishing 1/2 a length behind a nice sort and she was backed as if defeat was out of the question on her second start when sent off the 2/5 favourite. Something was clearly a miss that day and she’s a risky prospect now running here for a yard that haven’t been firing on all cylinders so far this season.

6 HARBOURING – £5,500 purchase as a yearling and she’s a half-sister to some speedier types. She’s got plenty of pace in her pedigree so a mile is stiff enough on debut and she may be better suited to 7 furlong contests based on her overall profile. The yard rarely have maiden winners and have sent out just 3 winners from 100 runners here at Kempton. Opposed.

7 MECCABAH – 80,000 Euro purchase and she’s related to some smart types over further in France. She was well-beaten on debut at Newmarket towards the end of last year and she’s likely to appreciate further than a mile in time. She should do better here with that experience under her belt but she looks destined for handicaps and may be worth putting in the notebook if she shows up well today.

8 MESHAYKH – Purchased for 160,000 Euros as a 2yo and she disappointed in two starts last year having been unable to threaten the leaders on either occasion. She’s bred to do better at 3 and like most of her stables runners, will improve for this step up in trip with the benefit of that racecourse experience under her belt. Stall 5 is fine and she is one of the likelier winners of this if she has improved as a 3yo.

9 MORELLO – Beaten out of sight in two maidens to date which both came over 7 furlongs at Salisbury. She’s likely to do better now racing over a mile as a 3yo and the booking of Dane O’Neil looks positive for a yard that have a healthy 14% strike rate here at Kempton. She’s got it all to do on form but may out-run her odds if she’s been straightened out over the winter.

10 SHAMONIX – Un-raced filly for Mark Usher and she’s one of the less likely winners of this today. She’s likely to want further in time and the yard aren’t known for maiden winners, particularly at Kempton given their overall strike rate is just 5%. She’ll do better with more racing and is avoided here today.

11 SILEEL – Fascinating runner for Ed Dunlop as a $425,000 daughter of War Front. It’s a small surprise that we didn’t see her at 2 but she’s probably taken time to come into herself and she could be absolutely anything on debut here. The mile around Kempton looks ideal (dam was Gilt) and she’s worth extremely close attention in the betting for a stable in hot form of late. Silvestre De Sousa is booked for the ride.

12 THAFEERA – Another War Front filly who ran a lovely race on debut, finishing 1/2 a length behind Daban. The first that day won the Group Three Nell Gwyn stakes this week and the form couldn’t be any stronger, making her the one they all have to beat in this. Stall 13 is a horrible draw but she’s obviously full of ability and connections will be hopeful of a big run here. Likely to be popular in the betting.

13 TIME CHASER – Beautifully bred daughter of Dubawi who is a full-sister to Time Test. Her dam was a Listed and Group Three winner and a relatively forward type so there’s everything to like about Roger Charlton’s runner here. It’ll be interesting to see how fit she is on debut but given the yard have sent out 4 winners from their last 9 runners, she’s likely to be in top shape heading into this. Hasn’t got the form of some of these but has the pedigree to make her a standout runner.

14 TREMENDOUS – 18,000 Euros purchase as a foal and she ran to a modest level on debut over 7 furlongs here last September. She could never get involved that day and will do better here with that experience under her belt as well as the extra distance. There’s a bit of speed about her profile so it would be no surprise to see her prominent here and stall 4 is fine. The yard have been in stunning form of late (19% strike rate).
