7.45pm Kempton Tips & Betting Preview 12/04/2017

This is a 7 furlong contest, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: Plenty with chances in this and a chance is taken on PATCHWORK. His dam was a forward type and this yard are well-capable of sending out a winning racecourse debutante although stall 13 is far from ideal. His biggest challenges are likely to come from the newcomers Tadween and Yabrave who both have lovely pedigrees and should be progressive types.

1 CRINKELY BOTTOM – Beaten out of sight in two National Hunt Flat races to date. She was tried in first time cheekpieces last time out which had no effect and she is tried in a visor today which is unlikely to bring about sufficient improvement. She’s stepped down significantly in trip here to 7 furlongs and has to shoulder a weight-for-age penalty in this.

2 DEL PARCO – Half-brother to a 6-race maiden out of a dam who failed to win in 7 career starts. He’s by Delegator and his progeny have generally appreciated further than this in trip so it’s interesting he debuts over 7 furlongs in this. Stall 12 makes life difficult over this sprint trip and others make more appeal for a yard with a 16% strike rate here.

3 PATCHWORK – Paco Boy gelding who’s out of a decent mare who won over 6 furlongs as a 2yo and twice over 7 furlongs, reaching an official rating of 95 in the process. This yard can get one ready first time out and they have landed some decent maiden prizes over the winter so it’s possible that this runner will be tuned up on his racecourse experience. Yard have one winner from their last 10 runners.

4 PURSUING STEED – 36,000GNS 2yo purchase and he’s been slightly disappointing in two starts to date. This is her first attempt on synthetics which should suit by Pastoral Pursuits and the step up in trip should be ideal. He’s hard to fancy though now switching stables for a yard that only have an 8% strike rate at Kempton. Others make plenty more appeal.

5 PUSHJOCKEYPUSH – £2,000 purchase as a yearling and he’s been very well-beaten in two starts to date. They came at Lingfield and Newmarket and he looks as if he’ll be better suited to handicaps having looked up against it off level weights with some of these. The tongue strap is left on today and the yard are without a winner from their last 1 runners.

6 TADWEEN – £90,000 yearling and he’s a nicely bred sort, out an un-raced dam. He’s by Tagula who won over 6 furlongs as a 2yo and he should show plenty of speed here and some stamina given his dam’s sire is Dansili. Should be lots to come from this runner and Richard Hannon has sent out some decent maiden winners of late and his strike rate for the last fortnight has been 21%. Respected.

7 THREE’S A CROWD – 5,000 Euro yearling out an 8-race maiden who achieved ratings in the high-60.s (71 at peak). He’s one that could turn out to be a nice sort but will probably appreciate easier tests than this, perhaps in handicap company, and he’s best watched in this for a yard that have been relatively quiet of late.

8 YABRAVE – 130,000GNS purchase as a yearling and he’s out a mare that won once over 7 furlongs as a 2yo, reaching an official rating of 83. His sire has produced some really speedy types and it’s possible that Roger Varian’s runner is another one of those. The yard have a 57% strike rate in the past fortnight which includes a maiden winner here at Kempton so the signs are extremely positive. Could be very strong in the betting.

9 YAMARHABA MALAYEEN – Decent purchase as a yearling, costing 48,000GNS. He’s got a bit of stamina about his pedigree given his dam was a winner of a 1m 1f Group Three contest and it’s likely that he will appreciate an extra furlong in distance. Should be primed for a good campaign this year but stall 14 makes life very tricky here and others are preferred.

10 HELL OF A LADY – Half-sister to some average sorts and she’s out of a mare that won twice as a 2yo over 5 furlongs. She should be forward here and her pedigree suggests this is probably her limit in terms of trip at this stage. Stall 6 is an ideal draw and the yard have been in good form of late with 3 winners from their last 13 runners.

11 LADY PRIMA – Out an un-raced mare by Sir Percy and she’s one that’s bred for further than this. The yard have a very poor strike rate here with only 6 winners from 107 runners (6% strike rate) and she’s probably going to take some time to get into her racing. One for handicaps later down the line and best watched in this.

12 LA ISLA BONITA – 21,000GNS yearling and she’s shown limited ability in two maidens to date. She will receive a rating after today’s run and the yard are without a winner from 11 runners here at Kempton. Another that makes limited appeal in this and she will do better in handicaps further down the line. She should have plenty of speed again here given she’s by Foxwedge and her Dam’s Sire is Exceed And Excel.

13 LUNA BEAR – Half-sister to El Duque who won four races from 48 runs. He was a relatively forward sort but Gary Moore’s runner has a bit more stamina about his pedigree (by Dick Turpin) and he may want slightly further than this. The yard aren’t renowned for first time out winners and the jockey booking suggests she won’t be ready to strike first time out.

14 MYTHICAL SPIRIT – Showed plenty of progression from her first run to her second and she was only beaten 4 1/4 lengths by a smart looking type. She should progress again here on just her third start and the 7 furlongs looks ideal for her. Yard are profitable here and they have a 16% strike rate so she’s well-capable of bettering that record here. Interesting.
