IN SUMMARY: There are plenty of nice sorts in this and the vote goes to SIOUX NATION for Aidan O’Brien. He’s beautifully bred as you would expect from this yard and he is bred to have all the speed in the world. He can make a winning debut here over the potentially smart Sebastiano Ricci who cost a decent 80,000GNS as a yearling.

1 CASTROGIOVANNI – Related to Money Trader who won twice as a 2yo over today’s trip and slightly further as a 2yo. His dam was a maiden from nine starts over slightly further although his sire won over 5 furlongs as a 2yo so there’s plenty to suggest he could be a forward type. Others make slightly more appeal on debut but he’s worth a second market check.

2 DIAMOND HEARTBEAT – Bought for 13,000 Euros as a yearling and this colt is owned and trained by Adrian Keatley. His dam was a maiden from nine starts whilst his sire was a winner over 7 furlongs on his first two racecourse outings. He’s of interest on debut and he’s drawn in stall 10 which shouldn’t be a problem at this track. Interesting, although the yard are without a winner from 22 runners here.

3 GUESSTHEBILL – Johnny Murtagh sent out a maiden winner last weekend and he runs a Reckless Abandon colt here. His dam was twice a winner over slightly further whilst his sire achieved an official rating in the high 110’s so there’s plenty to suggest he could be a nice enough type. The market will provide the best clues, drawn in stall 11 today.

4 LEGATUM – Very cheap purchase as a yearling (2,000 Euros) and he’s unlikely to be winning this today. He was last of 11 a fortnight ago over C&D, beaten a sizeable 16 1/2 lengths. He challenged the pace for much of the early part of the race and weakened badly late on. He may be ridden a bit more conservatively today and he’s the only one with racecourse experience in this. Best watched here off the back of that run.

5 MOLTIOR – Jim Bolger has a decent 12% strike rate here at Naas but he’s been badly out of form of late with only one winner from his last 24 runners. He runs a Vocalised colt in this who won four times over 7 furlongs including in similar conditions to today. His dam was a maiden from 3 runs and it’ll be interesting to see how much market support there is for him. One of the likelier sorts here.

6 MOUNT WELLINGTON – Stunning 475,000 Euro purchase as a yearling and if his price tag is anything to go by he should be striking at the first attempt. His dam was a smart performer who won a Group Three contest at Naas on Heavy so the going should be of no concern today. Aidan O’Brien has an excellent 21% strike rate here and he’s likely to be popular in this. The yard’s runners sometimes need their first outing though.

7 NATTY DRESSER – Related to some okay sorts over similar trips to this. It’ll be interesting to see how tuned up he is first time out for a trainer that has a relatively decent strike rate here (13%, 3 winners from 23 runners) although she’s not renowned for first time out winners. Others make more appeal.

8 SEBASTIANO RICCI – 60,000GNS purchase as a foal and he was sold on again for 80,000GNS as a yearling to the Joseph O’Brien stable. He’s the first runner for his dam and a son of Lope De Vega who was a capable type over trips not too dissimilar to this. One of the likelier winners of this for a yard with one winner from four runners here at Naas. Interesting.

9 SIOUX NATION – Fascinating runner for this yard with one of the last runners by the sadly passed away Scat Daddy. He was a super sire and produced some phenomenal sprinters including Lady Aurelia, No Nay Never, Caravaggio and Acapulco. He’s out of a mare that raced just once in which she was victorious and he could turn out to be a lovely type. Should love this test and the ground shouldn’t be a problem so there are plenty of positives. Will be popular with Ryan Moore on board.

10 T FOR TANGO – Decent purchase as a yearling (80,000 Euros) out of an un-raced mare. He’s by Zoffany so today’s trip and test shouldn’t be a problem although he may prefer the ground to dry out a little more than it currently has. The yard are without a winner from their last 19 runners here and they haven’t had a runner in the last fortnight and others are preferred on that basis.

11 DAMSEFLY – Second runner in this for Joseph O’Brien and she’s the only filly in the race. She’s out of an okay mare who won twice in 27 starts including over further than this and her sire has produced sorts that prefer further than today’s sprint. Ana O’Brien claims a valuable 3lbs and it’ll be interesting to see if there’s much market support.
