Rosemary Stakes Tips & Betting Preview

Only the five renewals historically to go on and precious little in the way of clues other than the fact that it has been taken by one of the bigger and better known yards each year, but no surprises there for a Listed race. Official ratings are never a bad place to start any race preview and in this case they point to the chances of Saeed Bin Suroor’s Promising Run (11/2) who is in good heart after winning last time out at Veliefendi in Turkey in a Group Three over this mile. She did have a much tougher race than expected for a heavily odds on shot that day and it may well have lefts it’s mark, but the Godolphin yard are coming back to something approaching decent form and she cannot be left out of our calculations just yet.

That said, we prefer the chances of Kevin Ryan’s Ashadihan (13/2 Each Way) who is lightly raced and ran a lot better than the bare form figures suggest last time out at Newmarket in July. Thrown in to Group One company she finished a four and three quarter lengths fifth to Alice Springs in the Falmouth Stakes which followed her four length sixth to Qemah at Royal Ascot in the Coronation Stakes. She has only ever had the six career starts, winning two of them at up to group Three level and dropped in class this afternoon she looks to have an excellent chance of success.

If we switch our attentions to stables in hot form then William Haggas tops the list with a 40% strike rate at the time of writing.  He had a couple entered here but it looks like Carenot will give the race a swerve leaving Muffri’ Ha (11/1) with Ryan Moore on board as his only challenger. She has a few pounds to find on the ratings and was only seventh last time out in a Class Two handicap at Sandown and she will need to improve on that to even take a hand, but we all know that when a stable can do no wrong strange things can happen and at decent odds as well!

Newmarket supremo John Gosden has finally decided to rely on Laugh Aloud (12/1) here which is an interesting call for a maiden winner. She did score at Windsor by a very easy seven lengths and the runner up has gone on to score to frank the form, but surely that is not enough to get involved in a Listed race. Next time out she took in a Class Three handicap at Goodwood when a head second to Rostova but she must surely have been showing a lot more on the Newmarket gallops for her astute trainer to even run her here.

Last but not least and Ismail Mohammed is a trainer very much on the up and his Miss Carbonia (33/1) just keeps on improving race on race. Three wins out of four races were capped with a Class Two Ascot handicap last time out almost forcing connections to have a shot at the big time, and if there is a surprise result here (which we doubt), then the daughter of Lilbourne Lad could be the one to provide it.
