Quebec Stakes Tips & Betting Preview

IN SUMMARY: BATTALION loves it here and it would be no surprise whatsoever to see him roll back the years and claim another listed level win. Master The World has been in great nick and rates the chief threat.

1 MASTER THE WORLD – Josephine Gordon takes over the reigns today on this classy performer who won at listed level two starts back. He was a gallant second last time behind Red Verdon on the all weather so comes into the race in fine form and has strong claims despite a penalty.

2 BATTALION – A course and distance specialist who loves it on the all weather and has won at this level earlier on in his career. He was beaten by Master The World last time but has a swing at the weights here and has to be respected whenever he turns up here.

3 DOLPHIN VISTA – Burnt a few punters’ fingers when last seen staying on powerfully to spring an upset in the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket and that was a career best. This is a much different test but if improving on his last run he has a fair chance here.

4 NOT SO SLEEPY – A good horse on the turf who won at listed level back in 2015 so is clearly talented. He won a decent handicap at Epsom not so long ago and was a reasonable fifth behind today’s rival Master The World when possibly not staying, one to note.

5 PETITE JACK – Another course specialist who really loves it here having won five times at the venue and he was second last time out to superstar Toast Of New York. That was a good run but the winner was coming off a big absence so he may have been flattered.

6 INTERN – A lightly raced three year old who was well backed when narrowly behind Petite Jack last time and remains of interest. He was making his debut for David Simcock that day after a break and has claims if coming on for that run, one to think about.

7 RED LABEL – One of the more difficult to weigh up having been racing all over the place in his eight start long career. He has run well in Group races the last twice in Italy since joining Marco Botti and is the potential surprise package here.

8 UTMOST – Has had just four career starts and hasn’t got his nose in front since a debut win in a two year old maiden. Has plenty of potential and is still open to improvement but has a fair amount to find on bare form against more experienced rivals.
