1.00pm Southwell Tips & Betting Preview 21/11/2017

1.00pm Southwell tips for Tuesday’s Class 3 race. Perhaps one of the best races of the day, some very useful Novice Chasers go to post for this 2m 4f Chase at Southwell on Tuesday. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: Popelys Gull provided a boil-over when winning at 28/1 on chasing debut, but this is much tougher and preference is for WORK IN PROGRESS. A front-runner for the Skeltons, he completed a hat-trick in the summer before a tough Listed race at Market Rasen found him out after a busy period. He’s now been given a break and can put his experience to good use to jump these into submission from the front. The main dangers are chasing debutants Stowaway Magic and Fountains Windfall, who both have scope to mark useful chasers.

1 WORK IN PROGRESS – Has won three of his last four starts, with his only defeat coming when unseating the rider at Market Rasen in Listed company in September. That was much tougher than this though and he was highly progressive previously, so he has to be respected as he can make all here with the experience.

2 POPELYS GULL – Poor hurdling form in the context of this race but he improved markedly on chase debut last month, rallying gamely to win going away at Wetherby on his latest start. He is entitled to come on for the run and is completely unexposed in this sphere, but this is a tough race conceding weight to some useful types. Looks vulnerable.

3 FOUNTAINS WINDFALL – Progressive hurdler last season for Anthony Honeyball, winning an Aintree Grade 3 at a cakewalk in April. He wasn’t disgraced when fifth in a Grade 2 at Wetherby on his return and he has the scope to make a very good chaser. Has to be respected as he’s likely to have come on markedly for that run.

4 STOWAWAY MAGIC – Won three of his six hurdling starts for Seven Barrows, producing his best effort yet when second at Sandown in April. He is lightly raced and has the scope to make a much better chaser for connections who do well with these types. He goes well fresh and a big effort is on the card.

5 FORTH BRIDGE – Four year old for The Queen who won a weak Listed Juvenile Hurdle at Musselburgh in February. He was disappointing when weakening tamely at Warwick on his return and he faces another tough task here despite receiving weight. Unlikely to be good enough.
