IN SUMMARY: Plenty of chances here including Harlequin Striker and the lightly raced William Sayle, but preference is for HIGHLAND PASS. She was a maiden winner at Chester back in May but has run well since for Andrew Balding, keeping on strongly to finish fifth at Newbury on her latest start. She was returning from an absence that day and off one pound lower, she is far too well treated to ignore under David Probert.
HARLEQUIN STRIKER – Six-timer on the turf for Dean Ivory who has only made two starts on the all weather, not disgracing himself on the second of those. Off today’s mark he was a decent enough sixth at Windsor last month and he holds each way claims from a good draw.
MIRACLE GARDEN – Won at the six furlong distance three starts ago before two solid effort in defeat the last twice over the seven. He was running on strongly when a neck second here seven days ago and he’s ready for this step up to the mile, so has to be respected.
WILLIAM SAYLE – Won on his second start for John Gosden but returned this season with a very poor run o nthe turf at Nottingham last month. He’s well handicapped on his maiden win and he’s entitled to have needed that run last month, so he couldn’t be discounted.
DREAMING TIME – Has won her previous two starts for James Tate, arriving here on the back of a gutsy win at Wolverhampton last month. She’s only two pounds higher here in a similar race and she has obvious claims on her hat-trick bid.
HIGHLAND PASS – Three year old filly who has been running well of late since a victory at Chester in maiden company, finishing fifth at Newbury on her latest start. She was too keen early on and then didn’t have the best of runs, so off a pound lower, she shouldn’t be for catching here.
SHAMROKH – Won a maiden on his second start for John Gosden, but he left that yard after only five starts and joined Mick Appleby. His mark has nose-dived due to some poor performances and he nearly capatisled when second at Newmarket last week. A touch more is needed here but he’s hard to rule out off three pounds higher.
CARNIVAL KING – Has been soundly beaten off on all of his runs for the Amy Murphy stable, showing no signs he’ll be returning to form soon when ninth at Wolverhampton last month. Readily opposed once again.
PINNATA – Ex-Godolphin inmate who has a very patchy profile, returning to form when second at Kempton in September, only beaten half a length. This is a tougher race off five pounds higher and he’s not guaranteed to back that effort up, so others are preferred.
TITAN GODDESS – Drawn well in a Class 6 Handicap over course and distance last month and she took advantage by winning by a head. She wasn’t disgraced off this mark when second at Newmarket but she’s drawn poorly here and another victory seems unlikely.
ZAFARANAH – Six race maiden who posted a career best effort when second at Lingfield last time out, keeping on well but never quite getting to the winner. Her mark has been unchanged which is a gift and she shouldn’t be far away here.
DASHING POET – Held off Zafaranah when winning at Lingfield last time out, now meeting that rival on two pound worse terms here. She was too free on her latest start at Kempton and if settling better this time around, she’s an each way player.
MUTHRAAB ALDAAR – Has been soundly beaten on his last three starts for Jim Boyle, all but tailed off at both Kempton and Windsor last month. Now onto a very interesting mark on past form but a return to form seems unlikely.
