7.55pm Chelmsford Tips & Betting Preview 16/11/2017

7.55pm Chelmsford tips for Thursday’s race. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: A really tough race to call with more out of form runners than those at the top of their game but it may be worth chancing AFRICAN BLESSING (Each Way) who hasn’t been beaten far in his recent races and loves the all-weather surfaces a lot more than most.

1 LADY PERIGNON – NON-RUNNER.

2 FREDRICKA – Five wins from forty-two stars for the experienced and fully exposed filly who is in the hands of Ivan Furtado in Wiseton who is having a quiet spell with eight losing runners in the last fourteen days. She has won off higher ratings than this on the turf back in 2016 and dead-heated off just a pound lower here over six furlongs in March but is yet to even try this trip and you have to wonder why at this stage of her career.

3 WAHAAB – Just the one win from fourteen starts on the all-weather and that was a dead-heat at Newcastle over a furlong shorter and off a handicap mark eight pounds lower than he has to carry this evening. His last win was over this trip at Leicester on the turf as recently as October before aa well-beaten fourth at Brighton and if he is on one of his going days he could yet run in to a place at least.

4 KREB’S CYCLE – Although put in his place over the Newcastle mile last time when beaten twelve lengths despite being sent off the 5/2 favourite he was outpaced and hampered before being allowed to come home in his own time, and he may be better judged on his head second at the same track over this trip in early October. In and out performer still looking for his first win for trainer Ian Williams since leaving the Richard Hannon yard.

5 EAST COAST LADY – Looking for her hat-trick this evening after a heavy ground win at Leicester and a dead heat at Windsor when rallying all out over the mile. She has won here over course and distance off a rating three pounds lower but still has a decent chance while in this sort of form with jockey Callum Shepherd taking three pounds off her back.

6 THAQAFFA – Clearly on a winning handicap mark and rated 72 today, yet the son of Kodiac has won off 76 as recently as May. He has placed off 81 so wins this if able to repeat his best efforts but sadly that is anything but guaranteed. Last time out he was beaten close to six lengths at Wolverhampton over this trip off three pounds higher and he needs to do better than that to have any chance.

7 DARING GUEST – Trained by George Margarson in Newmarket and to be ridden by Jane Elliott who claims five pounds, he has won three of his thirteen starts, two on the all-weather at Lingfield over six furlongs and then Kempton over this trip, the latest of them in September off five pounds lower. Not beaten too far at Wolverhampton at the end of last month off the same rating and should finish close to the places with a clear run.

8 LUCYMAI – Didn’t handle the Kempton mile last time out when last of thirteen and never really spotted in with a chance, but better judged on four consecutive places at Kempton and here at Chelmsford (thrice) including a win in May over course and distance. Higher in the weights now but Jack Duern claims three pounds back and she could run well at perhaps her favourite track.

9 WILD ACCLAIM – Yet to win a race of any kind but only had the five starts for trainer Ann Duffield before recently moving to Michael Appleby, and may yet have a bit more to offer. Three places suggest he has some ability but a rating of 70 seems high enough on what he has achieved so far though he is bred to be better over this trip than the sprints he has tried to date, and he could surprise a few of them this evening.

10 AFRICAN BLESSING – Only the three wins from his seventeen starts but his recent efforts have been commendable on the whole and he has only been beaten half a length, a length, and a length and a half in his last three starts, all of them over a mile on all-weather surfaces. Dropped a pound for his last run he should go mighty close today even though trainer Charlie Wallis is having a quiet spell with just the one recent runner.

11 CHAMPAGNE BOB – Jockey Jonathan Fisher is showing a healthy level stakes profit thanks to a 25/1 winner from his last three rides and claims seven pounds off the back of Richard Price’s five-year-old who was last seen winning at Leicester last month by two and a half lengths off a rating six pounds lower. He will need to improve again to take a hand here and he clearly needs a career best here to get involved in the finish.

12 MAGGIE PINK – The second Michael Appleby runner in this contest and in this case, Ryan Tate rides. She has had seventeen runs since her last victory in February 2014 at Wolverhampton over this trip and although plummeting in the weights she looks out of sorts, and thus hard to recommend in a race this competitive.

13 EL TORITO – Put up four pounds after winning over this trip in similar grade back in May, and unsuccessful in nine starts since. Gelded in August but yet to show any improvement for that operation, and a close to six-length fifth at Windsor in a claimer last time out over a furlong shorter when fading close home. Needs to do a lot more here to bother the main players regardless.

14 SYNDEX – The daughter of Frozen power has her first run for trainer Johnny Farrelly after leaving the Natalia Lupini stable last month after just the one race, but runs from a pound out of the handicap and has a lot to find. Yet to win of really threaten after six starts she needs to do a lot better and although bred to be better than it peers, she has to prove ability before being suggested as a likely winner.

NON-RUNNER:

1 LADY PERIGNON
