3.10pm Chepstow tips for Wednesday’s Class 3 race. A field of eleven go to post for the fifth race of the day at Chepstow on Wednesday, a 2m 7f Handicap Hurdle. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: Plenty of these have a huge amount to prove which makes the chances of RED RISING all the more clear, as he arrives here on the back of a dominant victory on hurdling debut for Dan Skelton. His jumping was sketchy on occasion but he’ll improve markedly for that run and should simply have far too much promise for this field under Harry Skelton. Western Climate heads up the dangers alongside Steely Addition.

1 WESTERN CLIMATE – Only six runs over hurdles for this eight year old for Tom Weston who returned to form with a good third at Uttoxeter last month. He’s on the same mark here but needs to make sure he doesn’t hang, which scuppered his effort late on. Each way player under Sean Bowen.

2 CATCHING ON – Won three starts ago at Warwick over the 3m 2f trip in heavy ground, so he clearly relishes a stamina test. He tends to idle though and he needs to bounce back from a poor run at Uttoxeter when last seen. More is needed off this mark and he looks vulnerable.

3 STEELY ADDITION – Got off the mark at the fifth attempt when taking a big field handicap at Wincanton ten days ago, asserting well late on. He’s clearly on the upgrade and should stay this extra distance, so is unlikely to be far away.

4 BILLY DUTTON – Hasn’t been seen since April 2016, where he took a heavy fall at Cheltenham over today’s distance. He’s on a manageable mark for his return but a 574 day break is a worry and he’s entitled to need this.

5 RED RISING – Point to Point winner who made a promising start to his life under rules with a very easy success on hurdling debut for Dan Skelton. He will improve in the jumping department for the experience and is completely unexposed. He shouldn’t be beaten on handicap debut.

6 SAY MY NAME – Only one win from twelve hurdling starts but he did get back to near his best when fourth at Warwick when last seen, not beaten far in softer conditions. His record fresh is mixed and the percentage call is to avoid today, despite his mark being tempting.

7 HEY BILL – Completed a double towards the end of 2017 for Graeme McPherson and his seasonal debut is best ignored as he went wrong after cutting his leg. Regardless, this current mark looked stiff enough on his two starts ago and others have far less to prove.

8 MALAPIE – Won a Class 4 Handicap at Southwell back in March but then burst a blood vessel when pulled up at Newbury two weeks later. That is a big worry but he does go well fresh and has his conditions, so couldn’t be ruled out despite being risky.

9 WATERLOO WARRIOR – Five year old for Colin Tizzard who finished second on his second run this season, keeping on stoutly but always held. He’s three pounds higher here but remains relatively unexposed and holds each way claims.

10 NORSE LEGEND – Hasn’t been seen since April 2016 which is of immediate concern, well beaten on three of his four runs that year for Chris Gordon. Plenty to prove after such a long break and it’s very easy to look elsewhere.

11 RAFAFIE – Arrives here in good form, backing up a second at Fontwell with a game win over 2m 3f here in March. His record fresh is mixed and his stamina for this far is a big question mark, so his claims aren’t obvious on this occasion.
